Today, everywhere you look you see information of how to lose weight. It comes in the form of infomercials that say that the products they sell are the best. So you spend money on the product to find out that you get board, make excuses on why you don’t have time.
At first you are all in, say you are making a commitment to do this and then the excitement wares off. Depending on the product (DVD, Treadmill, Stationary Bike, Elliptical, Weights, Machines for example) it either collects dust, or becomes a clothes rack. At this point you are agreeing with me or maybe laughing because you know it is true.
This happens because it is the same routine and you don’t have anyone to encourage and motivate you in person. If it is a piece of equipment you may have no idea on what to do with it or how it works. You may have no idea what the correct form is or where your hands should be placed, does it have a seat that needs to be adjusted? What is the correct hight?
When you exercise with someone a friend, a family member, a personal trainer that has your best interest in mind you have someone who will hold you accountable. An outstanding personal trainer is the best person to hold you accountable. The personal trainer is someone you will not get mad at or fight with when pushing you to be the best you can be. You are more likely to argue with a friend or family member when they try and motivate you, push you to go further, you may even give excuses on why you can not workout get mad and not meet your workout partner. The person on these DVD’s will say phrases such as “you are doing great” “stay with me/us” “hang in there” mean while you stopped and are sitting on your couch. I know you are agreeing or laughing again. The person on the DVD does not see you so you sit down, turn off the DVD and give up.
